I was reading Marketing Daily this morning and the first paragraph struck me, "The recommendations people make to their friends and family carry more weight than the messages companies put out on their own behalf." The article is about the importance of "word of mouth" which always brings me back to the importance of creating Brand Evangelists and paying attention to the touchpoints within your organization. Brand Evangelists are on board with the message and promise of the company and how that translates to the customer.

This time of year kids all across the country are heading back to school. One of the changes that many students are encountering is the shift away from printed textbooks to digital media. For example, the New Prairie school distract in New Carlisle, Indiana is giving all students iPads to replace textbooks. Other schools are giving their students laptop computers to replace traditional materials.

I was watching the local news with my wife one evening and was struck by a story of a home invasion in a neighborhood very close to where we live. The story immediately got our attention. We were concerned enough to take extra precautions and make sure exterior lights, locks and windows all were working properly. The very next day, my doorbell rang.

Over the past few years, I have been hearing more and more that print is a dying medium and that it is slowly being replaced by advances in digital technology. Companies such as Google and Toshiba have launched national campaigns to go paperless by switching to digital means of marketing communication and recent studies in print advertising have shown that current revenues are at their all time lowest. But does that mean print will one day be a “dead” medium? Far from it...

A couple of weeks ago I updated the Weather Channel app on my Android phone and was presented with the opportunity to sign up for a program called mPoints. Using this system I can earn "badges" and "points" that can be redeemed for gift cards or merchandise. This got me thinking about how much Gamification has become part of the everyday life.
