Chi Ishobak (pronounced Chee-ish-oh-bock) means “Big Cabbage” in Pokagon and is a Certified Native Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was established to offer products and services to build capacity for Tribal Citizens in the areas of professional and personal finance. They helped tribal member John T. Warren overcome the financial burden that was weighing on my shoulders for years.
Like many people, John was falling behind on his bills and was having a hard time making his car payment. He went to Chi Ishobak to try to refinance the truck to get a better interest rate. John and Chi Ishobak starting looking at his expenses and spending habits and dug deeper into his finances to see what the underlying problems were. Within a year, John paid his truck and off all of the credit cards.
The video features John T. Warren and describes the help that Chi Ishobak gave him to overcome the struggles that his finances were causing.
