Chi Ishobak (pronounced Chee-ish-oh-bock) means “Big Cabbage” in Pokagon and is a Certified Native Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was established to offer products and services to build capacity for Tribal Citizens in the areas of professional and personal finance. They helped tribal member David Martin pursue his dream of owning his own business.
For David, being an extremely talented artist wasn’t enough, he wanted the freedom that being an entrepreneur offered. Chi Ishobak helped David with start-up financing for Bicycle Tattoo & Piercing, and he was able to finish the build-out and become the only high-end custom tattoo gallery within Downtown South Bend. He and his talented staff are now off to the races and are booked well in advance.
The video features Bicycle Tattoo & Piercing artist and owner David Martin and describes the help that Chi Ishobak gave him in starting and growing his business.
